March to support cabin crew

The moment of truth is almost here. In less than 24 hours the first round of strikes by cabin crew will commence. While negotiations between Unite Joint General Secretary Tony Woodley and BA CEO Willie Walsh mean an 11th hour deal of some sort could still be reached [edit: it has since emerged that talks have collapsed] we will soon be facing into one of the most significant disputes in Britain in the last two decades.

In his press conference announcing strike dates last week Deputy General Secretary Len McClusky called on the whole of the labour movement to mobilize behind the cabin crew.

Unite have now announced they will be holding a solidarity march for cabin crew tomorrow (Saturday) at 10:30 AM at Bedfont Football Club ground. Bedfont FC’s ground is about 10 minutes walk from Hatton Cross Tube station the address is The Orchard, Hatton Road, Bedfont, Middlesex, TW14 9QT. You can find a map of the area here.

We would urge all our readers to get down to the rally and show your support for cabin crew. If you are a supporter of the trade union movement you need to be on this demo. If you are coming from east London bear in mind the Piccadilly line is down between Hammersmith and Northfields so leave early and give yourself plenty of time to get there.
